Biden 2024…President Biden made headlines this morning confirming his plans to run for re-election.
This was of course long expected and is the best case scenario for Democrats.
People underestimate the power of incumbency but there are two main benefits that are really hard to compete against: 1) Biden is in The White House and can use the bully pulpit to get his message out and 2) Biden already got over 80 million Americans to vote for him, the most in history….we know that once someone votes for a candidate once, it’s easier to get them to vote for that candidate again.
Some have debated replacing VP Harris on the ticket, but that would be ill-advised. Harris is a historic VP and just as the representation she brings helped drive youth and minority turnout — those same voters will revolt if she is unceremoniously replaced.
Biden has a compelling narrative arc. This is what it will be:
Then: In 2020, Biden ran as the unity candidate, the bridge to the next generation of leaders, the person who could bring back normalcy and defend democracy.
